Arums in bloom en route to Gordon's Bay

Posted Mon, 13 Aug 2012 (24 months ago)
Snow across most on South Africa last week and a mother of a storm in the Mother City over the long weekend - spring seems far away - but it isn't as these pics prove...

Travel Blog editor Joy-Anne snapped these pics along the Strandfontein coastline yesterday, showing the blooming arum lilies that are currently carpeting the coastal region between Muizenberg and Gordon's Bay.

Stay in Gordon's Bay

Escape the city by taking a short, scenic drive to Gordon's Bay an hour or so from Cape Town (traffic dependent). Look out for whales in season (winter to spring) all along the coastal drive, and enjoy the beautiful sight of wild arum lilies at the same time of year.

Portfolio offers a selection of handpicked Gordon's Bay accommodation establishments ideal for romantic getaways or family breaks.
