Take a drive along the Strandfontein road heading out towards the Cape Winelands at the moment and you’ll be treated to the sight of countless white arums, habitat of the Cape Western Leopard Toad.
Meanwhile, a drive anywhere from Cape Point
all the way to Hermanus
via Gordon’s Bay
may well allow you a glimpse of a Southern Right Whale
waving a friendly tail, blowing a fountain of spray or best of all leaping clean out of the water in a breach.
These reminders point to the arrival of spring, and also remind us that it’s almost time for the annual Hermanus Whale Festival
The picturesque seaside town of Hermanus
is renowned the world over for offering some of the best land-based whale watching opportunities
on the planet.
The annual Whale Festival is a celebration of all things whale related, and a full programme for all ages is planned each year.
- A kids market
- Whale wine festival
- Whales & Wheels Vintage Car Show
