The Kingdom of Swaziland is one of the smallest in the world, approximately 120 km from east to west and 180 km north to south. The diverse topography includes vast mountain ranges and sub-tropical lowveld with fruit, nut and sugar cane farms in the valleys, and restocked game parks. Swaziland borders Mpumalanga, KwaZulu Natal and Mocambique and is well placed as a stop over en route to the Kruger National Park. King Mswati III is the ruler of the Swazi people, who are famous for their distinctive red, black and white ethnic dress. Busy markets in Manzini and Mbabane offer a wide choice of crafts and curios.

Mbabane - For the fit and adventurous, climb Sibebe Rock, the world's second largest granite rock after Ayres Rock. Don't forget to visit the bustling market in town where everything is for sale.

Malkerns Valley - Book a show at the House on Fire Theatre, set on a sugar cane farm, it is a handcrafted "venue in the round", featuring everything from live local music to serious theatre. After the show, dine on real farm food at the mud and straw Malandela's Restaurant next door. In the same location is The Gallery, showcasing contemporary African sculpture and Gone Rural Grass Works - fast becoming world renowned for their table mats and baskets made by a group of 600 Swazi women for export. Swazi Candles come in every shape and size, plain and colourful, something for everyone.

Oshoek - Visit the Ngwenya Glass factory, where recycled glass, originally collected by young children as an environmental project, is melted and made into attractive glassware.
