Description |
(Location: Between Robertson and Ashton) Excelsior Manor, in the heart of the Robertson Wine Valley, was built during the ostrich feather boom of the early 1900s. This tranquil 180-hectare wine and citrus farm was founded in 1859 and has been in the De Wet family for 5 generations. The Manor, set amongst shady trees, fragrant roses and a rose labyrinth, offers stylish bedrooms. Generous farm breakfasts and delicious dinners are served indoors or on the wooden deck overlooking the swimming pool with sweeping views over the vineyards to the distant Langeberg mountains. Fishing, lovely walks through the vineyards or to one of six nearby wine tasting venues. TGCSA 4-Star Guest House.

Directions to Get There :
From Cape Town
Take the N1 to Worcester. Turn into Worcester and follow sign posting to Robertson. Pass through Robertson and continue past circle. About 10 km beyond the circle, there will be a right turn to Bonnievale- turn right here. Once across the railway line continue for another 2 km (you will pass a school and cottages on your left), just beyond this turn left into Excelsior.
From Swellendam (N2):
From N2 at Swellendam turn Left at the Ashton turn off. Pass through Ashton, about 7 km outside of Ashton you will see a left turn to Bonnievale- turn left here. Once across the railway line continue for another 2 km (you will pass a school and cottages on your left), just beyond this turn left into Excelsior.
