Grootbos is in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom overlooking the whale watching haven of Walker Bay. Two hours from Cape Town, two impressive Lodges, Forest and Garden, have been built in harmony with the natural surroundings. Garden Lodge lies in an indigenous garden with incredible ocean views and each suite is nestled amongst age-old trees and your private sundeck affords views that will take your breath away. Forest Lodge is an architectural masterpiece with panoramic views and each suite provides complete privacy. Relaxation is easy with a light-filled lounge, spacious bathroom, airy bedroom and large outside deck with breathtaking views of the ever-changing ocean and African sky. Creative cuisine using home-grown organic vegetables and the freshest local produce is complemented by fine local wines. Dedicated conservationists accompany guests daily on awe-inspiring excursions to explore the flora, fauna, bird and marine life of the area by foot, on horseback or in open 4x4 vehicles. From June to December marvel at the Southern Right Whales which may be viewed from the rocky cliffs, pure white beaches, by boat or light airplane. State-of-the-art conference venue. Directions to Get There :
Directions from Cape Town:
Take the N2 from Cape Town, past the Airport to Somerset West. Either follow the N2 over Sir Lowry’s Pass turning on to the R43 after the Houhoek Pass, or take the R44 along the coast and turn onto the R43 to Hermanus. Drive through Hermanus, Grootbos is situated 13km past Stanford on the R43.
From the Garden Route
The N2 brings you west past Swellendam and Riviersonderend. 10km past Riviersonderend turn on to the R326 to Stanford. At Stanford turn left on to the R43. Grootbos is situated 13 km from Stanford on the R43.
