Description |
In the unspoilt Kosi Bay Nature Reserve, this unique lodge offers the unforgettable experience of exploring the tranquillity of the Kosi lakes in guided canoes and on boat trips. The pristine Elephant Coast also offers Raffia Palm Forest walks, horse riding, game viewing at nearby Tembe Elephant Park, seasonal turtle tracking and day trips to Kosi Bay mouth for snorkelling. Abundant birdlife, with over 340 species including the rare Palm Nut Vulture. Excursions in open vehicles with guides. Safari tents on raised wooden decks, hidden in the forest provide a special experience. The open-air, reed-enclosed bathrooms with the bath and shower sunk into the white forest sand have been noted by guests as one of the highlights of their visit.
R1 250 to R1 530 per person per night fully inclusive 8 Safari bush tents. Children welcome. Transfer to lodge by 4x4.

Directions to Get There :
From Johannesburg - Approximately 7.5 - 8hrs
From Johannesburg, head towards Piet Retief and then Pongola. Proceed through Pongola towards the town of Mkuze on the N2. 10kms before Mkuze turn left to Jozini - as you leave Jozini proceed over the dam wall. After 45km at a T-junction turn right towards “Kwangwanase”. Proceed for another 47km past Thembe Elephant Park ( watch out for bad potholes, animals on road) - towards KwaNgwanase (Manguzi).
For non 4x4 guests :- Drive into KwaNgwanase (Manguzi ), through the town and near the end, look out for the Total Garage – on your left handside. Advise the kiosk that you are a guest of Kosi Forest Lodge and they will tell you to park your car against the far wall. This service station has 24hr multi camera survelliance and is also open 24hrs a day. PLEASE PREBOOK WHICH PICK UP TIME YOU REQUIRE 12h00 OR 16h00.
4x4 guests:- can proceed directly to the lodge. Just before the town of KwaNgwanase/ Manguzi, turn right onto the D1843 (look out for the police station emblem and the big tele-commucations tower further up from the corner) - then follow the signs straight through to the lodge (9km's).
From Durban - Approximately 4.5 hours
From Durban, proceed on the N2 North out of Durban bypassing Richards Bay, Empangeni and Mtubatuba and head towards the town of Hluhluwe. Turn off the N2 towards Hluhluwe, proceeding through the town until you reach the last traffic circle. Turn left towards Mbazwane/Sodwana Bay and proceed for 0.7 km and turn right again towards Sodwana Bay/Mbazwane.Shortly after turning right you will cross over a railway line. Proceed for 87 km bypassing Mbazwane on your right.Proceed straight through the circles following the signs to “Coastal Forest Reserve” and pass. Proceed for 46km km after Mbazwane (passing the Mseleni turn-off) and turn right at the circle Kosi Bay / KwaNgwanase sign.
