Rietfontein Ostrich Palace is a working ostrich farm situated on Route 62, between Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo. Rietfontein Ostrich Palace is the eldest working ostrich farm in the Cape colony, established by the Potgieter family in 1897 and has one of the most intriguing ostrich palaces, dating back to the early 1900's (the feather boom era). The Farmhouse and Cottages offer many comforts. Enjoy a scrumptious meal at the Restaurant, which serves ostrich cuisine and local wine. Relax at the pool, birdwatch or experience a private ostrich farm tour.
