ABOUT Danielskraal Farm

Danielskraal Farm lies in a valley in the Little Karoo, a private and safe hideaway surrounded by looming mountains and intriguing caves. The valley is home to plains game such as klipspringer, eland and kudu as well as over 116 species of birds. The farm itself is a thriving playground for succulents like Spekboom, wild flowers and fossils.

The self-catering farmhouse is an enchanting slice of history that dates back to 1836. It can sleep 10 - 12 people in 4 bedrooms with beautiful views. Three rooms have double beds and the fourth has twin beds and a bunk bed. A camp cot is available for little ones and there is a pool cover on the pool for safety. You are most welcome to bring your well-behaved animals to frolic along with the kids.

A fully furnished kitchen is the heart of your stay, and if you prefer to have staff and catering provided, this can be arranged. The expansive lawns are perfect for outdoor activities such as croquet, badminton and boules. At night, the sky is clear and glitters with stars. Dine al fresco underneath this sparkling canopy which is entirely free from light pollution.

Danielskraal is a serene escape away from the hustle of city life. You'll find the days go more slowly and the memorable moments last longer.

DIRECTIONS & MAP

Directions:

Coming from Cape Town, get on the R62 route past Barrydale, Ladysmith and into Calitzdorp.

If you are travelling from Cape Town towards Calitzdorp, at only garage in the centre of Calitzdorp, turn Right into van Riebeeck road. (Towards Van Wyksdorp). From Oudtshoorn, turnleft at the same point.Travel along this road, past de Krans cellar on your left hand side. Less than a kilometre later, cross the Gamka River. This is an important reference point to your next turn.1.3 km after the river, just as the road rises slightly and curves to the left, turn right on a dirt road between a cluster of workers cottages. The turn-off is immediately after the last of the chevrons indicating the curve in the road. Stay on this road (keeping left as it splits after about 800 m) and towards a cluster of red roofs in the distance. (about 2 - 3 km away. Just before the road kicks up to the Dept of water works plant at the end of the road, turn right through a farm gate. You are now on our farm - Danielskraal. Keep on that road, through a river bed, up and over a hill, past a workers house, around the dam and you will find the house about 2.5 km from the gate. It is very easy to find if you follow the instructions with only the turn off the van Wyksdorp road (1.3 km from the river) potentially missable. If you are lost, just go back to de Krans Cellar on outskirts of town on the Van Wyksdorp road and follow instructions from there.
