In the midst of rolling farmlands and at the end of a short gravel road I found amazingly genuine hospitality, including farm-style coffee and condensed milk, where Strawberry the giant eland gently eats oranges from your hand.

"Excellent! Baie vriendelyk, smaaklyke aandete,no complaints at all. Would certainly go back, if only to improve my Afrikaans. An excellent B&B, very much up to Portfolio's high standards. Mac"

B & B on a working farm-one night stopover

"We were made to feel most welcome by Mariaan when we arrived, and had pre-booked dinner with her which was absolutely delicious. Our room was large, well appointed and the bed most comfortable. The natural noises of the sheep -which had just been shorn, the busy birds and ducks reminded us we were in the countryside, and soon faded as we fell asleep. The 'hearty' breakfast was of the usual high standard we had enjoyed in South Africa, and Mariaan's personal attention, interest in our travels and advice on return journey to the airport was much appreciated."

Highly recommended stop in the South African count

"My wife and I stayed here overnight in March 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Situated south about 20km of Eermelo on the N11, the farm is off to your left (if heading south) then down a very well made track for about 0.5m to the farm. You will stay in cottage style buildings joined together behind the main fam buildings. The rooms are comfortable but basic, with no AC but an overhead fan. The bed was most comfortable. Rooms are en-suite and washing facilities very good. We had dinner and this was excellent, served buffet style It was good! During the meal a film Out of Africa musical show was put on a big screen. The farm owners even stayed to enjoy dinner and watch the film. An honesty bar is run,...but we were very impressed with the owners, who tried very hard to make us most welcome. Anyone passing through South Africa either heading north or south on the N11 should stay here for a rest.."
