Set on the Vilanculos peninsula on the coast of Mozambique, Dugong Beach Lodge lies within the Vilanculos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary, the first privately managed protected National Park in Mozambique. On 30 000 hectares of pristine marine and wildlife territory, the Lodge offers a unique beach and wilderness experience in a sub-tropical setting. With its powder white beaches, crystal clear water and coral reefs this diverse eco-system is home to an impressive array of fish, dolphin, manta rays, leatherback turtles, whale sharks and importantly the nearly extinct Atlantic Dugong, which resembles a sea lion.
Built at the water’s edge, luxury thatched air-conditioned chalets have direct access to the beach. Each chalet has a private deck and sala with day beds at the water's edge for relaxation where wellness treatments and romantic dinners may be enjoyed. Two luxury Villas each have two bedrooms and a plunge pool. All rooms are sea-facing and have outdoor showers.
The terraced swimming pool has an island-style bar and martini seats with spectacular ocean views. The extended jetty from the main deck is the place to spot myriads of fish and dolphins. Activities include windsurfing, water-skiing, parasailing, snorkelling, diving, kayaking, fishing, deep sea fishing, island excursions, sundowner and dhow cruises, birdwatching, nature drives and walks. Solar and generator power.
