ABOUT Gorah Elephant Camp

The thrill of quietly watching a herd of elephants stroll by, while sipping tea on the veranda of a stately colonial manor house is unforgettable and this exclusive lodge captures the romantic mystique of an authentic African safari.

Experience the breathtaking natural world of Africa, merged with colonial nostalgia and modern sophistication, for a memorable 5 star adventure.

Gorah is the only private concession and camp situated in the middle of the malaria-free Addo Elephant National Park, home to the densest population of elephants on earth, as well as the Big 5.

Discover the captivating rhythm of Africa’s ever-changing landscape, the majestic animals and the cultural diversity while enjoying professionally guided game drives led by passionate guides who are experts at searching the vast terrain for animals. The excitement of discovering elephant, rhino, lion and plains game in their natural habitat lingers long after returning to camp.

Soak up the sun, shop, read, enjoy a glass of wine or share your adventures with your companions in the comfort and splendour of Gorah house or while relaxing on the veranda next to the spacious swimming pool with views over the waterhole. Complimentary Wi-Fi access in the reception area, a curio & retail store and boma area.

Sheltered under thatched canopies, Gorah’s 11 stylish tented suites are luxurious and spacious, recalling the golden era of safari in the early 1900s. Each lavish tent has its own private deck offering a panoramic view of the endless savannah plains. The plush interior of the tent is enhanced through the simplicity and the authenticity of solar power lighting and ceiling fans and the en-suite bathroom is discreetly situated to allow for complete privacy. The tented suites invite you to completely relax and unwind – either with a book on the comfy couch or by taking an afternoon nap on the king sized bed.

All the 11 tented suites are superbly equipped with all the modern necessities required for a 5 star experience including hairdryer, personal in-room safe, bathrobes, slippers, Charlotte Rhys body products, umbrellas and complimentary sherry in the room.

Dinner at Gorah is a special occasion. Candle lit corners with warm fires and paraffin lanterns put a soft layer of romance on the entire house in winter and during summer the open veranda doors invitingly coax in the evening breeze, while the mood is set for a sumptuous meal to be enjoyed with carefully chosen wines that elevate each dish.

Al fresco dining under the African sky can also be enjoyed on the veranda at the front of the colonial Gorah House overlooking the watering hole.

The outdoor Boma is another gathering place for dinner under the vast African sky and the chefs at Gorah have perfected the art of an extravagant outdoor gourmet barbeque, with an array of dishes reflecting different aspects of African cuisine. Share stories, indulge in the fare and take in the sounds of the night as you dine.

Children staying at Gorah go on an exciting journey through time to discover the enchantment of this distinctive camp and the incredible Addo National Park. Chlidren can experience what it was like to walk in the shoes of the forefathers who lived at Gorah. The guides take special care to spend time with the children on game drives or back at the camp, teaching and guiding them through the wonders of history, nature and the African bush. Children 10+ can go on game drives
