No doubt you’ll already be in a good mood by the time you’ve arrived here because the drive itself is simply breathtaking. Once there, it’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into another world, one coloured by vast pomegranate orchards and mountains that look like paintings. Expect a much slower pace and quietitude unlike you’ve ever experienced before.

ABOUT Jan Harmsgat Country House

Jan Harmsgat Country House is the perfect stop-over spot, especially when you’re journeying across South Africa. Located on the R60 highway off the N2, it’s a short two hour drive from Cape Town as you head to the magnificent Garden Route.

Set on the working Jan Harmsgat Guest Farm, it encapsulates country charm and a rich history. You’ll immediately notice the understated elegance and comfort present throughout the 10 exclusive rooms, each individually styled and spread across three buildings. An authentic Overberg influence marries beautifully with modern conveniences and furnishings, so that you get the best of both worlds during your stay. The original metre-thick walls and yellow wood details are a fitting nod to the past.

Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast each morning and indulge in delicious dinners (created using produce grown on the farm) which is included in your accommodation rate. Jan Harmsgat is famous for its kudu fillet, baked goods and preserves, so you’re in for a treat.

If you’re looking to experience an authentic country ambience, then this is the place for you - it’s undoubtedly where quiet luxury meets rustic country charm.

Akkommodasie
02 Jan 2016

"Hiermee wil ons u hartelik bedank vir die puik diens, vriendelikheid en wat alles gebied word. ons was baie profesioneel ontvang en die moeite wat op nr 99% vir ons gedoen was met addisonele akkommodasie. Julle personeel is baie vriendelik en aangenaam, kamers pragtig styl vol, skoon en gerieflik. Ek kan u akkommodasie vir enige een aanbeveel. Jammer ons kon net een aand daar oorbly. Etes was beter as baie resturante. Dis 'n moet oorbly!!!"

"I was utterly spoiled with gourmet food, excellent service and every creature comfort. This lodge deserves every one of the five stars I gave it in my review for Tripadvisor"

Jan Harmsgat hotel
08 May 2015

"We had a delightful stay at the hotel. Our "home" was a bungalow on the driveway with a nice porch on which to relax, read, check-up on email, etc. The dinner was superb, cooked to order, served hot and in a most pleasant manner, with explanation of what it was all about. Similarly, breakfast was presented as requested, in the same style as dinner. We would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone of our friends and have already done so. The only disappointment was the fact that we were the only residents in the hotel, making it a rather lonely experience."

"One of the most tranquil places we have ever stayed at. The hospitality and food was amazing, best chocolate tart you will ever taste and the history that surrounds this farm is so interesting."

WOW!
31 Dec 2012

"What an amazing place - so secluded and everything done to such a high standard. This was our last place and we definitely felt that we had made the right choice as this ticked every box for comfort, quality, service and ambiance. Everyone was so welcoming and polite, our room was delightful and dinner and breakfast was carefully prepared and beautifully presented. I would recommend anyone to stay here."
