ABOUT Jembisa Bush Home

This welcoming stone and thatch bush home offers an intimate and unique safari experience for all ages. Originally built as a family home, it has since been converted into a lodge, delivering the perfect blend of style and tailor-made adventures to visitors from across the world. Family-run, Jembisa is filled with personal touches and collections embodying it’s heritage.

Palala River Reserve is the 3000 ha private wildlife reserve Jembisa calls home and forms part of the breathtaking Waterberg region, just a three hour drive from Johannesburg. 7km of the Palala River runs through it with various wildlife and safari activities available, from game drives to camping out under the stars, game tracking, river and bush walks, mountain biking and helicopter safaris.

A diversity of habitats gives rise to a range of fauna and flora, so be prepared to spot giraffe, leopard, gemsbok, zebra, hippo, kudu and more. If you’re lucky, you may even see the aardvark, a rare find but a frequent sighting at Jembisa. Ideal for families and small groups, you’re in for a relaxing stay in a stylish and warm environment that offers the very best in African hospitality in a malaria-free area.

The lodge’s five spacious bedrooms are decorated with natural materials that complement the surroundings, and a contemporary take on colonial style. Private balconies provide a window to the beautiful surrounds with directors’ chairs beckoning to you to sit back, relax and take it all in. Indulge in bush brunches, al fresco breakfasts, picnics and dinners under the stars, embodying the taste of Africa.

Nearby activities include Big Five safaris, horse-riding, zipline and golf.
