ABOUT Kariega Game Reserve - The Homestead

Kariega Game Reserve is an internationally renowned malaria free ‘Big 5’ private game reserve situated near Port Elizabeth, thus forming a natural extension to Cape Town and the Garden Route. Family owned and managed, the gradual growth and development of the now expansive 10,000 hectare reserve is one of the most accomplished conservation projects in the Eastern Cape to date.

Kariega’s game viewing and birding experience is exceptional, offering unforgettable game drives and a diversity of other activities in an area spanning five different eco-systems. Having two major rivers incorporated into the reserve (the Kariega and Bushmans rivers) also adds enormous beauty and value. Kariega offers guests a choice of five luxury lodges to suit all needs - Settlers Drift (new 5-star luxury tented lodge), River Lodge, Ukhozi Lodge, Main Lodge and The Homestead. 4/5 Star Lodges.

The Homestead is a private lodge which offers its’ guests all the comfort, convenience and luxury of their own home. With a dedicated game ranger and chef, guests have the flexibility to plan their day according to their own specific needs. The Homestead is set in a remote and private part of the reserve. With seven spacious bedrooms, all en suite, a bar, swimming pool, satellite TV, playroom for children and spectacular views, it is the perfect lodge for the sole use of a group or family of up to 14 persons.

Directions:

Main Reception - Main Lodge, Ukhozi Lodge & The Homestead
Travel the N2 from Cape Town along the Garden Route towards Grahamstown, and choose one of two alternative routes:

Route 1:
The coastal route on the R72, via Alexandria to Kenton-on-Sea, where you turn inland and proceed 14 km on the R343.

Route 2:
Proceed on the N2 towards Grahamstown for about 110km and turn right before reaching Grahamstown onto the tarred road (R343)to Kenton-on-Sea for a distance of 32km.

River Lodge Entrance
Travel from Port Elizabeth along the N2 towards Grahamstown for approximately 50 km and then take the Port Alfred turnoff, where you will then travel along the R72 towards Kenton-on-Sea and Port Alfred. The turnoff to River Lodge is signposted and is exactly 15 km beyond Alexandria.
