ABOUT Kimondo Camp, Serengeti

Kimondo is a mobile safari camp that tracks the seasonal Great Wildebeest Migration all the way from the Lamai Wedge and Mara River in winter to the lush southern Serengeti grasslands in the height of summer. There is no ‘right time’ to experience the Great Migration, Kimondo is always pitched in the heart of the action, away from the crowds yet within striking distance of the most memorable moments.

The camp consists of just eight elegant and airy tents, each with a king-sized cast-iron bed, en-suite bathroom and private veranda. Dinner is served either in the dining tent or under the African night sky.

July to November: Northern Serengeti

Home for Kimondo from July to October, is the northern Serengeti on the famous Lamai Wedge, an area that is regularly hailed as one of the highlights of the entire Serengeti ecosystem. This is a gathering point for the Great Migration in winter and is filled with wildebeest and antelope including the predators that hunt them.

December to March: Southern Serengeti

In November the tents are pitched in a spectacular location in the southern Serengeti where you can view the millions of wildebeest as they graze, rest and calve.

Guests at Kimondo enjoy twice daily game drives in open-sided vehicles that bring you right up close to the animals, ensuring you really live the migration and cultural and community visits to nearby communities and villages.
