I loved being off the beaten track at Mogalakwena – the river setting and ever present birdlife is so peaceful. Genuine, local hospitality. Mogalakwena is all about sustainability – furniture, art, food, are all locally sourced from staff and the village nearby. For something really out of the ordinary, join researchers on walks into the bush collecting data and samples – really fascinating.

ABOUT Mogalakwena River Lodge

Draped on the banks of the Mogalakwena River in the heart of the Limpopo River Valley, this gorgeous safari camp conjures a sense of ultimate tranquillity, while simultaneously delivering African bush luxury at its best.

Choose between four unique deluxe Main Lodge Rooms and four luxurious Private Chalets, all of which overlook the river and bushveld (the Chalets each have their own private viewing deck). The rooms are spacious and offer everything you need for a memorable safari experience. Air-conditioning/fans, en-suite bathrooms, tea & coffee-making facilities and the most comfortable beds are just a few of the comforts of home you can expect. The Chalets are perfect if you’re seeking something more private or if you’re travelling as a family.

There are lower and upper viewing decks that are river-facing – the ideal spots to enjoy a sundowner as you watch animals meander across the river. Open dining and lounge areas, a swimming pool and a bar around a central open fireplace, round out the camp by providing places to relax, cool off and indulge.

A variety of activities are available, including game drives, wildlife walks and bird watching. There is also a Research Centre that provides interesting visual and scientific data on the surroundings as well as participation in ongoing research projects. There is a Craft Art Village within walking distance of the lodge and an Artist's Retreat which is open for creative activities, tours and quality shopping.

Breakfasts and dinners offer a wide choice of interesting and delicious fare, while lunches are available by arrangement. Conferencing, functions and weddings are also welcome at Mogalakwena.

Situated in close proximity to the border posts into Botswana, the lodge is an excellent stop-over point for travellers on their way to the Makgadigadi saltpans, Tuli block, Victoria Falls, Chobe reserve, Okavango and the Mapungubwe World Heritage Site.

Come and experience the Soul of Africa while enjoying efficient service, the warmest hospitality and personal attention of the highest quality.
