Located on an ancient floodplain in the Sibuya Game Reserve, Sibuya River Camp offers a unique and intimate camp experience along the banks of the Kariega River and is only accessible by boat. Tucked away in a small forest, the four spacious and beautifully appointed tented rooms have been built with the natural surrounds in mind. The layouts incorporate the trees to avoid felling and the light and airy design means you can easily feel at one with nature as the sights and sounds are allowed to float freely through.
Lantern-lined, ground-level pathways deliver you to your tent which is kitted out with generous king-sized beds and tasteful furnishings. Large fold-out sofa beds make this camp ideal for families. Small touches bring a distinctly African feel and fireplaces means you won’t feel the chill outside during the colder months. Enjoy buffet-style meals served in the boma or under the night sky. For those staying for three days, picnics can also be arranged on the reserve or on the nearby Blue Flag beach. The kids also have specially catered meals at River Camp.
Immerse yourself in nature on an amazing bush walk, game drive (Sibuya is home to the famous Big Five), boat/canoe trip or fishing expedition, each led by Sibuya’s fantastic and experienced rangers, or relax in a hammock with a good book while listening to the birds and taking in the stunning river views from the decks.
Please note: There is no WiFi or electronics with intermittent mobile signal – you’re encouraged to fully embrace the natural surrounds. Children welcome. TGCSA 4-Star Lodge.
