Singita Sabi Sand is a privately owned game reserve in the Sabi Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger National Park in South Africa and spanning more than 45,000 acres. Renowned for high concentrations of big game and frequent leopard sightings, it’s here you will find Singita Ebony Lodge.
The original Singita lodge, Ebony Lodge, located on the Sand River, lies amongst enormous trees in the heart of South Africa’s ‘big cat country.’ Having recently enjoyed a fresh makeover, the lodge is an interpretation of the classic safari lodge and has been inspired by the romance and adventure of tented camps and African explorers’ abodes. The contemporary interiors are enhanced by the lustre of well-polished woods and natural fibres and are brought to life with the addition of hand-woven baskets and exposed thatch.
The lodge comprises 12 suites, each with its own private plunge pool, and external walls have almost been completely removed to be replaced with canvas and glass to maximise views and space, whilst creating a new safari tent-style suite. Outdoor pavilion decks – ideal for dining and relaxing – are suspended off the river banks, as if hanging in the trees, allowing you to completely immerse yourself in the natural surroundings.
For ultimate relaxation you can opt to enjoy holistic, healing treatments at the Bush Spa where the tranquillity of the wilderness is translated into beautiful body treatments. All skin care treatments are performed in the tranquillity of the Spa therapy rooms using Dermalogica products, which are suitable for both men and women, while body treatments can be enjoyed in the comfort of guest suites, out on a private deck or at the spa.
Singita is recognised as one of Africa’s most influential collectors of wine, with an extensive cellar showcasing a premium selection of wines, including some of the continent’s most sought-after private reserves. With a wine list that encompasses approximately 222 labels and 20,000 bottles, it’s safe to say that wine is a key ingredient of the unique Singita experience and personalised wine tastings within the unique ambience of each lodge’s cellar are a highlight, for connoisseurs and casual tasters alike where Singita’s experienced sommeliers are able to guide you through a variety of wine styles, years and cultivars to find the wines most suited to your individual tastes.
The untamed wilderness of Africa is a truly life changing experience no matter one’s age and a safari makes for an unforgettable family holiday with memories that will last a lifetime. Safari can open a child’s eyes to the beauty of the natural world, which is why children of all ages are welcome at Singita Ebony Lodge. Activities at the lodges are tailored specifically to suit the interests and desires of your family and babysitting services are available. In the interest of safety, participation of children in any game activities is at the discretion of their guide. An exciting Mini Rangers’ Course is available for young explorers and will open up a whole new world from tracking animals to learning bush survival techniques.
