ABOUT Steenberg Hotel & Spa

Steenberg Hotel is located on the Cape’s oldest registered farm, granted by Simon van der Stel, to the feisty Catharina Ras, in 1682, in the leafy suburb of Tokai, a mere 20-minute drive from the centre of Cape Town.

With exquisite hospitality, world-class cuisine, an award-winning winery, an 18-hole championship golf course, a plush spa and plenty of history, Steenberg is a destination within itself.

Guest can relax in luxurious accommodation beneath the Constantiaberg amphitheatre of the Table Mountain range. Rooms range from striking heritage suites, contemporary premier rooms, family rooms and charming barn rooms as well as those in the original Manor House.

The Steenberg Hotel Spa is operated by the experienced Ginkgo Spa & Wellness Group and is the perfect place for relaxing. There are five beautifully fitted rooms each offering distinctive spa experiences. Spacious and comfortable, they encapsulate the essence of wellbeing. The 90-minute ‘ScenTao’ Hot Stone Therapy Massage is an unforgettable experience for the massage enthusiast as is the ‘Elixir’, the Ginkgo signature therapeutic massage which encompasses five different techniques using traditional touch therapies.

Steenberg Hotel also has facilities for meetings and small conferences and can cater up to 40 delegates. Various packages are available and can be tailored to your specific needs. The Meeting Room boasts a large terrace opening onto breathtaking views of vineyards and mountains and comes complete with the latest video conferencing equipment, called ‘Easy Meeting’. This advanced video conferencing system will simultaneously connect the conference centre to any number of separate locations around the world instantly and effortlessly via a short access number with no complicated set-up procedures.

Steenberg Golf Estate and private Golf Club is consistently named one of the best conditioned courses in South Africa Golf Digest’s annual Top 100 and attracts golfers seeking a total golfing experience. Known for its hybrid plan, it offers traditionalists the opportunity to ‘bump and run’ (a rare shot in South Africa) in the rough around the greens, and to meet the challenges of strategically placed sand pits and waterways. The par-three, not-so-short 14th hole, features the largest green in Africa at 76 meters in length. The Steenberg Golf Club is open to the public, but priority and special green fee rates are given to hotel guests and members.
