Mushara Lodge forms just one part of the gorgeous Mushara Collection and its claim to fame being that it was the original establishment. Conveniently located 8 km from the famous Etosha National Park’s eastern entrance Von Lindequist Gate, it provides the perfect overnight stop en-route to the game reserve. The name Mushara was inspired by the abundant Purple Pod Terminalia trees found across the grounds.
The lodge comprises 10 spacious en-suite chalets, a triple room, one family unit as well as two single rooms. The thatched chalets are positioned in a horse-shoe shape around the sparkling Mushara pool and its manicured lawns, and together with the individual rooms are each kitted out with all the necessary mod cons, including mosquito nets to keep the mozzies at bay.
There is a thatched public area that offers a small library, a fully-stocked bar, an open lounge, dining area and a lovely curio shop. The welcoming fireplace makes for cosy winter evenings, while the lounge is ideal for reading a book from the collection or enjoying a glass of vino from the impressive wine cellar selection. Of course, the curio shop is where you can find great souvenirs as well as gifts for those back home. The décor sees a traditional African flavour marrying beautifully with modern art and touches, creating a space that is visually exciting, luxurious and comfortable.
Days are spent exploring the over 22, 000km² park with its abundant wildlife, over 300 bird species and fascinating salt pan. There’s nothing better than returning to this oasis after hours out in the bush.
