ABOUT The Robertson Small Hotel

In the Breede River Valley, affectionately referred to as the “Valley of Wine & Roses”, the quaint town of Robertson is surrounded by many well-known wine estates and stud farms. Located just two hours’ drive from Cape Town, the newly revamped Robertson Small Hotel is where chic sophistication meets old world charm.

Featuring art works from some of South Africa’s most outstanding designers and artists, including Alexis Barrel, Michael Chandler, Renée Rossouw, House of Gozdawa, Lisa Firer, Rene Botes, Bofred Furniture and Dokter & Misses, the revamp was about collaborating with local designers to create a range of bespoke items to enhance the hotel's award-winning facilities. Elements of the renewed design can be found in every detail of the hotel, from the servers’ aprons to the newly planted cactus garden and the earth- friendly products in all rooms.

Choose from 10 distinct and stylish suites, individually decorated by London-based designer, Sophie Ashby; The Manor House Rooms are located in the beautifully restored Victorian Manor House, a national monument built in 1909. Then there’s the suave yet relaxed Stable Suites, as well as the serene Poolside Suites. Neutral, calming tones pervade the spaces, with pops of colour and clever use of textures being used to add character, and soul, while also rounding out the contemporary feel.

The Manor House Rooms feature high, embossed, typically Victorian ceilings and large windows leading out on to a spacious veranda. The classic yet modern Pool Suites each open onto a private wooden deck, allowing easy swimming pool access. The two downstairs Stable Suites boast a private patio overlooking the garden and swimming pool, whilst the larger upstairs Suite provides the perfect romantic getaway for couples and space for families. Well appointed, you’ll have all the comforts of home, including air-conditioning, bathrobes, WiFi, self-service bar and tea & coffee facilities. The latest in technology caters for the needs of the trendy traveller and businessman.

Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast courtesy of The Small Restaurant, with seating either inside the Manor House or on the patio outside next to the beautifully manicured gardens. A classic and clean menu, inspired by Italian cuisine, aims to highlight the very best in seasonal, local produce, with dishes being prepared with love and care by Head Chef Tiaan van Greunen and his team. The Em Bar, with its exquisite custom-made blue and white porcelain bar, serves a small selection of divine cocktails along with the finest wines from the area – perfect for that pre-dinner drink or night cap.

The hotel wouldn’t be complete with a pampering element and The Wellness Room delivers this and more, poolside. Indulge in an array of specialised treatments designed to rejuvenate and nourish.

Explore the area through wine tasting, hiking, horse-riding and more.
