A part of the esteemed Isibindi Africa Lodges family, Tsowa Island is located in the Zambezi National Park, a 56 000 ha game reserve known for being a birding hot spot and home to an array of wildlife, including lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, sable and numerous antelope.
The island has never been inhabited and is fringed by lush forests, while the mainland is riverine woodland with natural spring lines used by wildlife. Accommodation is in the form of a modern day explorer’s tented camp comprising of six, eco-sensitive, luxury stretch Bedouin tents situated under a cool canopy of trees and nestled on the banks of the beautiful Zambezi River. Every effort has been made to ensure minimal environmental impact with everything blending as much as possible into the natural environment.
Each tent has a small covered verandah set on the river’s edge and looking directly across to the Zambezi National Park on the mainland. Spend hours watching the wildlife that frequents the water’s edge in the late afternoon and early morning. The separate outdoor shower allows you to connect with nature in a unique way.
There is a bar tent as well as a stylish lounge and dining area, while the outside deck area has a dining area flowing onto a sunken fire pit overlooking the river. The main area is linked to the pool, the ideal spot to reboot and refresh after a day out exploring.
Choose from a range of water and land-based activities, from game drives and game walks, to fishing, canoeing, river cruises, island walks and day trips to the stunning Victoria Falls. Experienced and trained guides are with you every step of the way, giving you the freedom to let go and enjoy each of these experiences fully.
With only 12 guests staying at a time, you can expect to enjoy an intimate camp and authentic wilderness experience with all the comforts, not to mention personal service that is second to none.
“"Tsowa" means ‘new beginnings’, which is what you will find on this pristine island in the middle of the mighty Zambezi River.”
