GUEST FEEDBACK

Our stay at Umsisi House
01 Mar 2017

"Dear portfolio team UmSisi House was a special experience and could not have been bettered. We were in the cottage for 2 weeks – which is perfect if like us one wants self catering – but both the main house and the cottage are elegant and display the designer flair which Amanda and Paddy both have. The hillside setting with long views over the surrounding area up to Kruger enhance it further and the service from the staff could not be improved - plus the backup from the ever friendly boxer dogs. Amanda and Paddy are terrific hosts and their enormous knowledge of the ecosystems and the animals were a real bonus. We could not recommend it more highly – and it is great value for money as well, particularly for UK visitors. "

"Umsisi cottage is one of those rare finds you want to go back to over and over again, and we surely will. The attention to detail and the fantastic hosts is what this place makes very special. Ten out of ten."

A very special place

"This was truly a soul enriching experience. From the very first moments, our hosts, Amanda and Paddy made us feel like we were home even though we had never been to this part of the world before. The house is beautiful with amazing views and the surrounding gardens and water feature added to the tranquil, spirit lifting atmosphere. The cottage was lovely as well. The meals were delicious and plentiful. We were a family of eight, including three small boys ages five, seven and eight. We were fortunate to be able to spend Easter weekend there where the boys engaged in a fantastic egg hunt. They enjoyed swimming, exploring, bike riding and the puzzles and games at the house. The hosts gave us such wonderful advice and arranged our trips into the bush with a very informative guide. As our love for the region grew we were further inspired by the entertaining stories shared by Paddy and Amanda. Their love for the region is contagious. Our trip just would not have been so amazing without the umSisi House and Paddy and Amanda. We cannot wait to return! Diane B. San Francisco, Ca."

Umsisi House - such a special place!

"This must be one of South Africa's best kept secrets. The house is simply stunning, yet comfortable and relaxed and set in a tranquil, beautiful spot. The hosts are always attentive without being intrusive and they went the extra mile and then some to ensure our stay was memorable. The food is simply delicious and often sourced from their own vegetable garden. Our children were so well looked after as well. There is a pool and huge garden with lush lawns, big boulders and a natural stream cascading into a small pool. And even better are the wonderful paths criss-crossing the bigger property for some extra exploring. And when they were tired after all the exploring, a seperate tv room gave them some free time to relax. The house is the perfect place from which to explore Kruger and the the Panarama towns and close to the Nelspruit airport as well."

Special Holiday
08 Aug 2012

"My brother and I spent a few days at Umsisi - we had the best time ever. Besides the wonderful road trips and elephant rides, our hosts Amanda and Paddy were amazing. Our packet picnic baskets and home cooked meals were to die for and were the personal touch we seldom see. For the dog lovers, you're in for a treat! Bella and Saxon are adorable! For those who aren't too keen on dogs - they are disciplined and trained and will stay out of your way if you so choose. Thanks Amanda and Paddy, we had such an unforgettable time. Stunning panorama - comfy and stylish house

"This place is a little paradise. You step out on your stoop and have a sundowner while all you see around you is nature, rolling hills and rocks and Kruger park streching along the horizon. The compound is huge, the house is comfy and very stylish. Kids can roam around on the huge compound. The hosts are great characters. You really should stay a bit longer than a few days - we only spent 3 days."

"We stayed at umSisi House for over 2 weeks on a family holiday. We used it as a base for day trips to visit all the attractions in Mpumalanga and for days out in the Kruger National Park. The house is very comfortable with all new facilities and endless hot water provided by the solar water heaters. We were able to choose all our meals and the times we would like them - a great bonus with 3 young children. The food was fresh, delicious and very well cooked by Paddy. We also enjoyed all the wines which had been chosen to compliment the food and with our personal preferences in mind. Amanda helped to organise any bookings and days out that we had in mind and was full of suggestions of where to go and what to do. In 17 days we were never short of entertainment, even on the days we decided to stay in and lounge around the pool. Paddy and Amanda were excellent hosts and we are looking forward to a return trip. "umSisi House is a very special place and an inviting home perfect for holiday with family and friends. As owners and hosts - Amanda, Paddy (and their staff) pay attention to every detail and, as a result, have created a unique lodging and dining environment that stands out even among the best lodges, guest houses and hotels in the region. Plan for a three night stay (minimum!) and allow Amanda and Paddy to take care of your safari bookings inside the Kruger Park and have them organize other activities in the area. Meals are exceptional and creatively prepared by Paddy and Amanda and their selection of wine is impressive. Simply put, umSisi House is a "must stay". Harper Maputo, Moçambique"

"Amanda and Paddy are some of the best hosts in Southern Africa, having been on one of their safaris with them and stayed in the Lodge that they previous managed visitors are in for a real treat. They have a knack for excellent interior design, wonderful views and an delicious food and wine. They both understand Africa and all that it means and with their deep knowledge of the bush anyone venturing into the Kruger will benefit from their expertise. We as a family have already booked for February and will use it as a base for our whole family to explore this wonderful area. Don't miss out! Hertfordshire England"
