Wildehondekloof was purchased in 1996 as a barren Karoo farm without any fencing, roads or infrastructure. The current lodge was built 8 years later and quickly became a favourite with nature lovers, both from South Africa and overseas. The reserve is home to multiple varieties of buck including Mountain Rheedbuck, Vaalribbok and Klipspringer. In recent times, Eland, Kudu, Red Hartebeest, Burchell's Zebra, and Impala, among others, have been introduced.
The exclusive luxury lodge has 8 en-suite bedrooms with air-conditioning and gorgeous views of the mountain and river. The Presidential Suite has a king size bed and private lounge with indoor fireplace, as well as its own veranda with mountain views.
All bedrooms come with bed linen, towels, toiletries and coffee and tea facilities. There is a spacious communal lounge with a double sided fireplace to keep guests warm on cold Karoo winter nights.
The indoor dining area has a wood braai and outside is a wood fired pizza oven - wood and firelighters are provided for both. There is also a boma tucked between the poplar trees, giving guests a wonderful outdoor space for evening gatherings. Take a dip in the swimming pool on warm days and make use of the wifi throughout the lodge.
