The Sossusvlei is a huge, white salt and clay pan and is easily one of Namibia’s most remarkable attractions. Located in Africa’s largest conservation area (the Namib-Naukluft National Park), its characteristic red dunes are amongst the highest in the world and make for some of the most beautiful subjects for avid photographers, particularly at sunrise and sunset. Even though the pan sees little water, it still boasts a variety of fauna and flora that have adapted to ensure they flourish despite the extreme conditions. The Sossusvlei is a truly fascinating place to explore and is sure to be one of the highlights of any Namibian trip.
