Tamboerskloof Highlights

The following tips of Tamboerskloof activities were suggested by Tintagel Guest House.

  • Adventure – Try abseil off Table Mountain with ABSEIL AFRICA – very scary and so exciting. Downhill Adventures can take you paragliding off Lions Head.
  • Art House Movies – See something different at the historical Labia Movie House where you can take your popcorn, coffee or wine into the classical cinema house and enjoy the show.
  • Bo-Kaap Tour - The colourful Bo-Kaap is a fascinating part of Cape Town – candy coloured houses, cobbled streets and mosques make this a favourite for those who enjoy photography and encountering cultures. Bilquees is a registered tour guide (recommended by Tintagel) who offers day tours of the Bo-Kaap. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the Bo-Kaap while learning about the history of this part of the Mother City. Contact bilqeesb@telkomsa.net
  • Cape Malay Cooking Lessons – learn how to create the fragrant food of the Bo-Kaap from a local - Contact: bokaapcookingtours@gmail.com .
  • Eat Out – There are so many great eateries in / near Tamboerskloof. Tintagel recommends: Ricks American Café in Park Road just 50 meters from Tintagel Guesthouse for Moroccan inspired menu and great tapas! 95 KEEROM in Keerom Street – authentic Italian cuisine in a stylish, modern interior. AUBERGINE - classic European cuisine at 39 Barnet Street
  • Lions Head Moonlight Walk – A popular activity among locals. Stride or stroll up Lions head for sundowners, watch the full moon rise and walk back down in its silvery light. Magic!
  • Local Hangouts – Tintagel recommends ‘The Power and The Glory’ just below Rafiki's in Kloofnek Road- a quirky, young, friendly retro Afrikaans and English arty crowd – and they serve great coffee! Another place to meet locals is Arnold’s in Kloof Street for happy hour. Watch sport or try delicious venison dishes.
  • Night Cycle Tour of Cape Town - Tintagel Guest House is a proud member of the Bike & Saddle Eco-Active Network, which allows property owners to offer their guests a truly unique travel experience including a 3 hour night cycle tour of Cape Town that takes in the Bo-Kaap, Green Point Stadium, Company Gardens, National Gallery and much more! Soak up the bars and cafes on Long Street and end the tour with a glass of sparkling wine and gourmet canapés at the famous Bascule Bar as the sun sets.
  • Shopping - Go to the City Hall Parade Market held every Wednesday and bargain with the local stall traders. Meet the flower sellers in Adderley Street. Must-see - Long Street – Cape Town’s most famous street it has vintage bookshops and craft malls and pubs and restaurants and loads of energy. Nearby Green Market Square is great for traditional African hand crafted gifts and unusual clothing.
  • Underground Ghost Tour – This creepy but thrilling tour leads to the Castle of Good Hope.

Our Portfolio of Tamboerskloof Accommodation

Portfolio offers visitors to Cape Town a stunning selection of Tamboerskloof accommodation in arty guest houses and B&Bs and charming villas and lodges.

Cape Town is one of the world’s top destinations so always book your accommodation in advance especially over peak season. Cape Town enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate with warm (though windy) summers and rainy, cool winters. The best time to visit is late summer (January to March) when the strong summer winds have usually dropped but the temperatures are still warm.
