Castle of Good Hope and Iziko William Fehr Collection

Cape Town, Western Cape

A highlight of any visit to Cape Town is the Castle, which was built as the headquarters of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in 1666. The objects in the collection date from the 17th to the 19th centuries and reflect the lives and furnishings of affluent Cape urban households. The rooms on the main floor of the Secunde’s House recreate the living space of Castle officials. This is the oldest building in Cape Town and home to the historical paintings and furnishings of the Iziko William Fehr Collection.
