Oliewenhuis Art Museum

Officially opened as a satellite of the National Museum in 1989, this Art Museum holds in trust a historical and contemporary collection of South African art. Oliewenhuis is situated within 12ha of natural vegetation and is surrounded by a beautiful garden complemented by the African Carousel, a working carousel with 16 original artworks, and the Sculpture Park, comprising 17 sculptures commissioned by various South African artists. The Cement and Mosaic Project consists of five functional sculptures created by 14 Mangaung artists, located in the gardens. The underground reservoir provides a unique exhibition space.
