Two Oceans Aquarium

Cape Town, Western Cape

As one of the top tourist attractions in Cape Town, the Two Oceans Aquarium on the V&A Waterfront showcases the beauty and diversity of life from the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Awe-inspiring exhibits feature iconic African penguins, quirky Knysna seahorses, predators and the master of camouflage, the octopus. A firm favourite is the immersive clownfish (aka Nemo) exhibit where hundreds of these orange and white fish swarm around the heads of visitors. Fun, interactive exhibits, such as the Microscope, Touchpool and the Smart Living Challenge Zone will inspire visitors of all ages to take steps towards a greener footprint and a healthier, happier world.

Besides immersive exhibits, the Aquarium offers penguin encounters with adorable rockhopper penguins, and dives with turtles, rays and shoals of large fish in the I&J Ocean Exhibit. This exhibit with its magnificent 9m continuous window and 10m-long full tunnel has been wowing visitors with its spectacular views. Be sure not to miss the Jelly Gallery where lights and mirrors carry you away to a translucent and mesmerising world of wonder. Opening in 2017 will be the new predator exhibit featuring ragged-tooth sharks – a must-see for everyone with an appreciation of these sleek predators.

Visitors can also discover the marine life of Table Bay aboard the Ocean Adventurer. Trained guides share their knowledge and there is a chance to spot dolphins, seals, sunfish and whales. The Aquarium offers a world-class, safe, clean and all-weather experience, designed to ensure unforgettable memories for young and old to treasure. It brings its visitors face-to-face with the underwater world of the southern African coastline, inviting them to Explore, encouraging them to Experience and motivating them to Engage, inside the Aquarium and out.
